In a region historically affected by drought, Coca-Cola Mexico and Grupo Embotellador Nayar have joined forces with the organization Toroto and the local community to launch an ambitious soil conservation and water restoration project.
Located in Bahía de Banderas —within the Valle de Banderas aquifer in the Ameca-Ixtapa basin—, the initiative’s main goal is to enhance water infiltration and restore ecosystems. Key actions include reforestation, building structures that retain moisture and nutrients, and implementing practices that support local flora and fauna.

The project thrives on active community participation. Teams formed by local landowners and ejidatarios are responsible for maintaining the works, which include regenerative livestock farming, stone walls and dams to improve water infiltration, as well as local governance actions to strengthen climate resilience.

Residents highlight that these efforts not only bring hope back to an area impacted by water scarcity, but also foster environmental awareness and collective commitment.

Today, where drought once prevailed, streams are reappearing, and new vegetation is flourishing. This tangible change proves that environmental restoration, combined with citizen participation, is key to building a greener, more sustainable future for the next generations.
