Originally from Santiago Ixcuintla, Nayarit, Antonio Echevarría Domínguez was born on March 12, 1944, as the third child of Don Antonio Echevarría Pérez and Mrs. Blanca Domínguez Estrada. In 1970, he married Mrs. Martha Elena García Gómez in the city of Tepic, Nayarit. He is the father of Martha Elena Echevarría García, Antonio Echevarría García, Silvia Echevarría García, Andrea Marisol Echevarría Yucupicio, Nicolás Echevarría Becerra, José Luis Echevarría Becerra, and Cristóbal Echevarría Becerra.
A graduate of the University of Guadalajara (UDG) with a degree in Public Accounting, he completed his professional internship at “La Favorita,” a Coca-Cola bottling company, where he held various operational and administrative positions that helped advance his professional development. Eager to expand his knowledge, he would return during the summers to Embotelladora del Nayar S.A. de C.V. (ENSA) in the city of Tepic, where he acquired essential skills under the mentorship of Mr. Manuel Medina Maldonado, former Manager of ENSA.
In July 1967, he moved to Mexico City and joined the accounting firm “González Oses” alongside Manuel Rodríguez Naya and Ricardo Llanos Duarte. This experience allowed him to practice his profession and gain further expertise as an auditor. A year later, he returned to Tepic to establish his own accounting firm, “Echevarría – Navarro y Sánchez,” in partnership with CPA José Álvaro Navarro Hernández and Carlos Francisco Sánchez Vega. Simultaneously, in the mornings, Don Antonio worked as an auditor at Embotelladora del Nayar S.A. de C.V.
In July 1972, at the age of 28, thanks to his knowledge, efforts, and visionary spirit, Don Antonio was offered the position of General Manager at Embotelladora del Nayar S.A. de C.V. Under his leadership, sales increased due to strategic actions taken with labor unions and internal restructuring. This growth led to the expansion of distribution centers in Nayarit and parts of Jalisco, as well as the establishment of companies such as Promotora de Inversiones del Nayar S.A. de C.V. (PINSA). Together with his esteemed partner, CPA José Álvaro Navarro Hernández, they founded “Grupo Empresarial Álica S.A. de C.V.,” the most important business consortium in the region. They became pioneers in various industries in the state, including beverages, real estate, transportation, funeral services, printing, agriculture, cultural and sports activities, social functions, tourism, automotive services, financial services, agro-industry, and more.
His love for the state of Nayarit and his deep altruistic spirit have driven him to support vulnerable groups and promote environmental conservation. This commitment led him to establish Fundación Álica de Nayarit, A.C. (FANAC) in 1990.
In addition to being a businessman, Antonio Echevarría Domínguez has held significant public positions. Just two years after the founding of the Autonomous University of Nayarit, he served as Treasurer from 1971 to 1973. He also became actively involved in Nayarit politics starting in 1976, which eventually led to his election as Constitutional Governor of the State from 1999 to 2005.
Currently, he serves as President of the Board of Directors and Administration of Grupo Álica’s companies. He also shares his expertise on other business boards as a demonstration of his commitment to the growth and development of the state of Nayarit.
He has received numerous recognitions for his experience and leadership as a businessman, politician, and advocate for the country’s well-being. The spirit of Grupo Álica, which he helped shape, emphasizes the importance of upholding human values, responsibility, a strong work ethic, job creation, honesty, and, above all, solidarity.
